Hi everyone, A little over a year ago, I wrote my first Substack piece after four years of processing everything that lead up to and followed my detransition experience. After much encouragement and a reception that indicated people were interested in hearing more from me about my life and my analysis of the trans issue, I decided I would continue to write. At first, I was on a roll so I decided to make a paid subscription option so that I would have a smaller community of interested people that I would feel more comfortable speaking to in my writing. This was all happening during a time when I was doing a large amount of public speaking about my experiences, something that I thought would be easy after a couple years of saying the same things to a much smaller audience.
Please go live your life. The whole point of all of this is that you figure out who you truly are and live it. You are beholden to no one but yourself. You have done so much to communicate real information and the truth about Gender affirming care in today's society. Thank you for all you have done.
Helena, your honesty, in a world of lies, shines brightly. I pray in time my own daughter can muster the integrity to reconnect with her own beautiful self and be the example you have been for other young women. As a mother working on efforts to end the madness, we understand being 'burnt out.' May hoards of others from all walks of life find the strength to do the same.
Huge thanks to you for all your work. You have done so much and taken huge risks to speak out. I'd love for you to continue, but you have to take care of yourself and do what is best for you. It's only natural and healthy that you are moving forward.
Best wishes to you in all your endeavors. You are so eloquent and intelligent -- your future is bright! Go for it!
Thank you, Helena, for all you have done. Your story was the first one I found after my 15-year-old daughter announced that she's really male, socially transitioned and changed her name/pronouns. You really helped me understand what was going on and where it was coming from. I will be eternally grateful to you for speaking up and speaking out. I hope that one day my daughter will emerge from the madness as well. I wish you peace and happiness.
You certainly need your own space and privacy to begin recovery from this traumatic, horrendous event. Media people can't feel the full depth of your emotions and you do need to protect and take care of yourself before you can move on, at your own pace. xxx
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for bravely and selflessly sharing your story. Echoing other parents, I pray my daughter, like you, wakes up from this mad dream and learns to love and accept herself as she is--a beautiful young woman with so much to offer the world. It has been a privilege to support your writing. May God bless you as you continue on your journey. You remain in my prayers.
Go and live your life. We have benefitted greatly from your insight and strength. You’ve helped me a lot w my own daughter and I can’t thank you enough. I’ve been honored to support your writing, which is intelligent and honest. Many thanks.
We will be forever be in your debt for your part in opening the doors to conversation and awareness! You are part of helping parents and legislators gain perspective and being an example to others that it’s ok to change your mind. Thank you!
